JOHNSONRAMIREZ

JohnsonRamirez is Kristen Ramirez & Elisheba Johnson, public artists and art consultants. Collectively, they see public art as a practice that embraces “public” and “art” as equal sides of the same equation.

RAPIDRIDE EXPANSION ART PLAN
In 2020, JohnsonRamirez contracted with Metro RapidRide and 4Culture to research, develop and write an art plan for the expansion of RapidRide throughout King County. This art plan features illustrations by Aaron Bagley and serves as a roster for future public art projects, including podcasts, sculpture, artist-designed upholstery, and much more.

RADICAL SELF LOVE SEATTLE
On Valentine’s Day 2018, artists Elisheba Johnson and Kristen Ramirez asked Seattlelites to make a public gesture of love: to oneself. Radical Self Love Seattle was a community poetry project that asked residents of Seattle to submit statements of self-love via Facebook and Instagram. These positive affirmations debunked and reclaimed what love can be and how is shows up in our lives. Johnson and Ramirez combined the contributed statements into one community poem of self-love and shared it out on Friday, February 16th. Photos by Bruce Tom.

PASSING NOTES FOR THE GRAND CONNECTION
JohnsonRamirez were invited to participate in Bellwether 2018, an art fair in Bellevue. They had over 500 people contribute notes with uplifting messages that were then placed into balloons. The balloons were handed out to festival-goers, so they got a surprise when they popped the balloon.
